Purchased for $70,000 (PLUS GST) at the recent prestigious Sydney Easter sales this filly comes from one of the hottest and potentially one of the best son’s of Danehill to yet stand in Australia in EXCEED AND EXCEL. Already the sire of 14 stakes winners including this years BLUE DIAMOND winner in REWARD FOR EFFORT this filly ticks all the boxes on type and on pedigree being a daughter of WOODMAN who is the broodmare sire of over 1,203 individual winners including in Australia MISS FINLAND,MAMOOL,LAD OF THE MANOR,MORE THAN READY,PEPPERWOOD etc.

A $375,000 yearling purchase, EXCEED AND EXCEL, was a smart two year old, winning a maiden race and the Todman Slipper trial-GROUP 2, and taking a second in the Black Opal Stakes-GROUP 3 in four starts. He emerged as a dominant force at three after opening the season with an off the board effort in the San Domenico Stakes GROUP 2, EXCEED AND EXCEL took in succession the Up and Coming Stakes-GROUP 2, Roman Consul Stakes-GROUP 3 in a new race record, and Dubai Racing Club Cup Invitational Stakes-GROUP 1, while setting a new course record for the 1400m.

EXCEED AND EXCEL’S progress was temporarily halted when he failed to stay the trip in the Caulfield Guineas-GROUP 1.Back to sprint trips, EXCEED AND EXCEL then added the Royal Sovereign Stakes-GROUP 3 and Newmarket Handicap-GROUP 1.Purchased by Darley, EXCEED AND EXCEL was sent to continue his career in England.Unfortunately,a blood disorder kept him out of his planned engagements at Royal Ascot, and although he returned to start as favourite for the July Cup-GROUP 1 his uncharacteristically tame performance made it abundantly clear he had not fully recovered from his illness.

A son of Danehill, EXCEED AND EXCEL is a half brother to Fusaichi Pegasus stakes winner ENEMY OF AVERAGE. The dam PATRONA,is a daughter of English 2000 Guineas-GROUP 1 winner LOMOND.PATRONA is a three parts sister to SWAMP KING, a GROUP 1- winning Sprinter in Canada and to English GROUP winner in STYLISH SENOR and half sister to French Listed scorer DRAMATIS.

EXCEED AND EXCEL’S race career ended with 12 starts for 7 wins (6 of those at GROUP level) for $1,282,375 in stakes. A lightly raced son of Danehill,EXCEED AND EXCEL has already made his mark on the track as a stallion having sired 14 Stakes winners to date including as previously mentioned this years BLUE DIAMOND winner REWARD FOR EFFORT.
